NAMES DAVID C. MILLER, Ph.D. PRESIDENT OF
OPTOELECTRONICS SEGMENT
Sarasota, FL, June 26, 2001 - Uniroyal Technology Corporation (Nasdaq/NMS:
UTCI) announced today the appointment of David C. Miller, Ph.D. as President
of its Optoelectronics business segment effective June 27, 2001. Uniroyal
Optoelectronics (UOE) manufactures high brightness light emitting diodes
(LEDs) at its facility in Tampa, Florida.
With 20 years experience in manufacturing and technical management
for leading compound semiconductor companies, Dr. Miller will assume the
management and leadership responsibilities for Uniroyal Optoelectronics.
Prior to joining Uniroyal, Dr. Miller served as President of the Airtron
Division of Litton Systems, which encompassed three semiconductor business
segments. Dr. Miller is experienced in the startup and management of semiconductor
businesses with successes that include the development of the first six
inch GaAs substrate in the industry. He began his career at the General
Electric Research Laboratories in Schenectady, New York, and was a member
of the technical staff at Bell Labs where he conducted research involving
materials science, including LEDs. Dr. Miller earned his Ph.D. in Materials
Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his Masters degree
from the University of Warwick in England.
